Teaser Tuesday: Divergent by Veronica Roth

divergentI’m finally getting around to reading the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth. Here is an excerpt from the first book in the series, Divergent:

“People are everywhere, all dressed in black, all shouting and talking, expressive, gesturing. I don’t see any elderly people in the crowd. Are there any old Dauntless? Do they not last that long, or are they just sent away when they can’t jump off moving trains anymore.”

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

      1. Welllllll … yes, in some cases, I agree with you that that would be the conclusion to draw. In this case … at least for me, it wasn’t that I was deeply connected with the characters, it’s that I felt the way they were acting didn’t make sense in the context of what had already been established about their characters, and I got frustrated as a result. But then, I can be very picky sometimes 😀
